Three book sales will benefit three of our branch libraries during the weekend of May 11-13.
The Bessie K. Russell Friends of the Library organization will offer books, magazines and CDs for sale on Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the library, 3011-C Sparkman Drive. Give local teachers a boost at your local library!
The Bailey Cove, Madison, Main and Monrovia branches of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library are supporting Free2Teach, a charitable organization dedicated to providing FREE classroom supplies to the teachers in our community.
Free2Teach needs seven core items -- pencils, pens, crayons, washable markers, glue sticks, copy paper, and loose-leaf paper -- along with other basic classroom supplies, such as construction paper, notebooks, rulers, scissors, highlighters, books, and backpacks. Read more about Support Free2Teach
John Pruett, retired sports editor and columnist for The Huntsville Times, will talk about the integration of football programs in the 1970s during the closing event of Community Read 2012: A Gathering of Old Men on Tuesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Main Library. The Bailey Cove Library presents Heather's Hints, a free Couponing 101 Class, on Monday, March 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library.
The class offers two hours of hands-on couponing with blogger and couponing wizard, Heather McIngvale, founder of "Heather's Hints." She will lead participants through the basics of couponing: meal planning, grocery lists, stockpiling, match-ups, stacking, inserts, ads and more.
