Gregory Benford looks to the future

World-renowned scientist and science fiction author Gregory Benford will talk about his work on Thursday, June 14, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the main Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.

The evening begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Benford, a two-time winner of the Nebula Award and a professor of physics at the University of California, is the author of more than 20 novels. He will discuss "The Wonderful Future That Still Can Be: Science Fiction and Current Science." He’s returning to Huntsville as part of DeepSouthCon 50, June 15-17. Rheta returns with "Hank"

Columnist Rheta Grimsley Johnson returns to the main library on Friday, June 8, at 6:30 p.m. to talk about her new book, Hank Hung the Moon ... And Warmed Our Cold, Cold Hearts.

Run for the Gurley Library!

The 14th annual Gurley Library Challenge 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday, May 19, starting at Madison County Elementary School at 8 a.m. for the 5K and 9 a.m. for the Fun Run. Walkers are encouraged to participate. Read more about Run for the Gurley Library!
