Murphy Friends of the Library Book Swap

The Eleanor Murphy Friends of the Library Bookstore will hold a Book Swap from Thursday, August 1, through Saturday, August 3, at the Eleanor E. Murphy Public Library during regular library hours.

How does the Book Swap work? You have two options:

Option 1: Bring $10 AND your gently used books, movie DVDs, and music CDs to the book swap. For that visit, you can take as many items as you wish from the available selection. Read more about Murphy Friends of the Library Book Swap

Geocaching 101 for Families

Murphy FOL Spring Book Sale

The Murphy Friends of the Library Bookstore will hold a Spring Sale on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Find a great selection of fiction, non-fiction, children's books, audiobooks, music CDs, VHSs, and DVDs with prices starting at 10 cents.

The sale will benefit the Murphy Friends of the Library group and go toward building the library's collection and funding such programs as the Murphy Writers Group

A Celebration of Writing

Celebrate the art and craft of writing with the Murphy Writers Group on Saturday, December 8, at 2 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room at the Main Library, 915 Monroe St.

The event will include guest speakers Dr. Monita Soni and Steve Gierhart, readings by members of the writing group, and a progressive story. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free. Read more about A Celebration of Writing

Crochet a Wire Leaf Pendant

Eleanor Murphy Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale

Fall into savings at the Eleanor Murphy Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale on Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Shop early for a great selection of books, music CDs, VHS cassette tapes, and DVDs. Prices start at 25 cents.

Writers helping writers at Murphy

The Murphy Writers Group, representing many different stages and genres of writing, meets on the second and fourth Saturday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Eleanor E. Murphy Library Meeting Room.

Members of the group are given the opportunity to read to their peers and receive positive and helpful feedback. The group is recommended for ages 14 and older.

The members welcome a diverse group of individuals to join adventures with literature.
