How to do Things: Cook like a Chef

July is National Culinary Arts Month. To celebrate, we will be visiting the Chef Next Door, Margaret Hale, for this special cooking lesson on July 12.

The talented Ms. Hale will teach us techniques like marinating, grilling, dicing, reducing, and how to assemble a spread fit for all ages. Participants will get to enjoy a Food Network-style Cooking Demonstration then eat the results and take recipes home with them.The class will be roughly an hour long, and participants are encouraged to bring any beverages of choice. Healthy Kids Forum

Health professionals will tell you all you need to know about your children's immunizations, and how ensure they're getting all the nutrients they need to be their healthiest.

Health professionals from the Madison County Health Department will tell you all you need to know about childhood immunizations, and will cover other common childhood health concerns, and answer your questions. Jazz in the Afternoon

Listen to, and learn all about jazz music in this free, family-friendly series from June 23 to July 14.

We are proud to partner with the Tennessee Valley Jazz Society to present this video series in conjunction with the annual Jazz-N-June Festival.  This four-part series will be led by passionate, local educator Howard Bankhead, who has been hailed by the Huntsville Times as "a man with a courageously big heart and bold, unselfish ideas." Monday Night Bollywood Movie Series

Take a trip to Bollywood this summer! It's closer than you think- and it's free. Join us as we enjoy these fascinating Indian films from June 6-July 18, with the exception of July 4th (we will be closed).

Summer Solstice Poetry Festival

Celebrate summer, and let your creativity run free during our special poetry programs on June 14th and June 21st.

We are thrilled to present two special programs conducted by accomplished local poet, Ruth Braswell, of the Limestone Dust Poetry Festival. Both programs will take place in the second floor events room of our Main branch, from 6:30 pm to approximately 8 pm. Both programs are open to the public, free, and no registration is required.

How to do Things: Speak in Public on May 24

Take the first step to conquering your fear of speaking in public at this informative and interactive session led by Lee Demory of the Redstone Toastmasters.

If you're afraid of speaking in public, you're not alone! Fortunately, this common fear can be overcome. And becoming an effective public speaker can lead to greater confidence and success in both your professional and personal ambitions.

Memorial Day Documentaries

Join us in commemorating Memorial Day this year with two iconic war documentaries: A classic from the World War II era, and a modern day account of combat in Afghanistan.
