Kids ages 6-12 can use bricks provided by the Tennessee Valley LEGO Club and HMCPL to build their scary, funny monster creations during our Monster Lab! Prizes awarded for the best creations. Learn two methods of making rag rugs and how to prepare the fabric. Learn a few simple crochet stitches and crochet a mug rug from fabric strips in class. Learn how to make a Navajo Knot, and make a rag rug with only your fingers, no tools. You will know how to continue the work at home to make full-sized rugs. No crochet or sewing experience is required. Bring a P or Q size crochet hook. Bring tightly woven fabric, such as a sheet, and a worn pair of jeans to recycle into the rugs. Bring a sack lunch. Join instructor Carol Tillman to learn the basic art of quilling. Quilling consists of forming designs by rolling narrow strips of paper into scrolls and gluing them together. In this class, we will learn how to make basic shapes and then use those shapes to create flowers, animals, bugs, etc.
