The Thursday evening Concerts at the Library series continues with Microwave Dave Gallaher and his classic blues guitar on May 10 at 6 p.m. in the atrium of the Main Library, 915 Monroe St. Admission is free.
Other concerts in the series offer the popular Celtic band SlipJig on May 24, and the annual Dancing with the Library Stars contest over two evenings in June. Sentimental Journey begins the big band showcase on June 7, and the Moondust Big Band takes dancers through the final round on June 21.
The Four Star Jazz Orchestra of the U.S. Army Materiel Command Band and the Rocket City Jazz Orchestra will present an evening of big band music and dancing on Thursday, April 26, at 6 p.m. in the atrium of the Main Library.
Geek out with Bailey Cove on Valentine's Day for GEEK PROM 2012!
Celebrate Valentine's Day the geeky way at the Bailey Cove Branch Library. Dress in your best geek wear (or come in costume as a famous geek, Dr. Who or Harry Potter, for example). The party is set for Tuesday, February 14, at 6 p.m. There will be dancing, craft-making, games and yummy snacks.

On November 15, 6:00pm Huntsville author, Jane DeNeefe, will discuss and read excerpts from her new book, Rocket City Soul: Huntsville Musicians Remember the 1960s in the HMCPL Main Branch Atrium.
Music will be provided by Ivy Joe Milan and Jim Cavender and special guests, performing some of Huntsville’s musical greats from the 50s through the present. Copies will be on sale at the event at $20 each, and books will be available online and in book stores beginning November 2.
Aspire String Quartet and Oakwood Adventist Academy Choir
The Thursday Evening Concert series is pleased to host a special Christmas Concert by Oakwood musicians and singers. The concert is free of charge and no registration is required.
The quartet will play a varied program of secular and sacred Christmas pieces. The Oakwood Adventist Academy (High School) Choir will sing two stand alone pieces - "Jingle Bells" and a carol medley and "The Carol of the Bells" and Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" with the quartet.
