Book'N with Jazz

The Tennessee Valley Jazz Society joins forces with the Showers Center Library for a Book'N with Jazz program on Tuesday, June 18, at 3:30 p.m. at the library. TVJS also will be at the Main Library for a storytime program on Wednesday, June 19, at 10:30 a.m.

Recycle Roundup for Kids

Learn how to keep our planet healthy and have fun, too, during our "Recycle Roundup" at the Madison Public Library on Monday, April 15.

3 p.m. -  "Recycle Roundup," a puppet show focusing on reducing, reusing and recycling.

You can raise your diabetes awareness during a seminar at the Bessie K. Russell Public Library!  Nutritionist Victor Owens will discuss the risk factors for type II diabetes as well as signs and symptoms of the disease, myths about diabetes and resources to help you manage the disease. It's Spring Break, so let's go to the Beach! Virtually, that is.  We'll be visiting with Rangers and kid hosts from the National Park Service as they talk about the islands in the Gulf of Mexico, how they track the animals and plants on those islands, and how influences from nature and humans (including the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill) have changed the seashore.   This event is perfect for kids in grades 3 and up. Frye, author and writer in residence at the University of South Alabama, discusses the literature and poetry of music and songwriting.  Then Nashville recording artist and singer-songwriter Kathryn performs songs from her collaboration with Frye: their book/CD project, The Quilt.
